In what way were they more comfortable? How can clips be uncomfortable?

i have those all city double gates, and they put a lot of pressure for me on the top of my foot right under one of the rivets. This created a bruised area on the top of my foot right behind my big toe. I switched to plastic all city clips and that fixed everything. Don't know if that's any help to you but the plastic ones are cheaper and more comfy for me.

Hm. Interesting. I've heard that from a lot of people; that the quad (thanks das_pyrate) gates are uncomfortable. I guess I'll have to try em both out for myself! Thanks for the help.

It made a huge, possitive difference for me when I changed to Doubles. So I vote quads.

I hate my singles. I want quads really bad.

What do you hate about your singles?

I've had both those double (swan) and quad gate clips. Like some people mentioned here, the quad gates would dig into the top of my foot where the rivets are. On long rides (with a lot of skidding) my foot would sometimes be bruised. So I switched to the double gate clips (I used to run doubles on MKS singles) and all was well again. I wouldn't say the quad gates are more comfortable but they do feel a little more tight (secure is a strong word) around your foot because the clip basically covers the top of your foot. They also run slightly shorter compared to the same sized double clip.

I feel like theyre never tight enough, especially when i skid.

But isn't that because your straps aren't tight enough? If it's a just a "feeling" than you might like quads. They do "feel" more secure and snug around your foot. Doublizers also give that snug feeling. I use them with my doubles for no reason other than being suckered into buying $5 leather ones on a whim.

I dunno. It seems like i cant get them tight enough.
