I am looking at getting an INtense M! frame for basically free. BUT the rear shock it completely dead, the inner piston has a large crack in it. It is a Fox oil/air with a 3 inch stroke. My question is weather it would be worth building this bike up or not. It is just a frame and wheels, nothing else. I figure it would cost about $2k to build it right. That is if I can get a rear shock for it for a decent price.
Thoughts?
Why 2k? Your off to a good start for a "(over) budget build".

You think it will cost more than 2K? I was hoping to build something pretty decent. Maybe an XT bike...
new xt or ebay xt? What fork?

Ebay XT probably. The frame has 8 inches of travel. So a fork that is comparable. Probably about 200mm travel.
Triple 8s are starting to show up reasonable.
With the move to the new Boxxers, you can get 09 Boxxers pretty cheap. I got my brand new 09 Team for a steal through my LBS.

If the shock's been whacked, maybe a good idea to give the frame a good check for cracks, bends, etc.?
