I've been trying to get it to open word processing documents this afternoon, and it keeps crashing. It starts recovery when I try to open it again, and then crashes. I've reinstalled the program and that didn't do any good. Has anyone got any suggestions to get it to stay open?

What OS? If Windows, I'd consider uninstalling and reinstalling Java.

OOo seems to have random luck. Some people find that the program is absolutely perfect for their use. Others (like me) find parts of it (like Base) useful, while others tend to glitch over heavily formatted Word documents.

If I were on the Mac platform, and I didn't need to worry that much about Word format compatibility, I'd go with iWork. For the tasks it does, it is an extremely good Office-category package.

There's not format specified for the attachment, and I'm using Windows for a OS. It's always worked pretty well before, and I had a friend open the attachment and send it back to me in the body of an email. Which I was able to print using OO. Thanks for the suggestion on Java, I'll have to try that next.
