Hi all,

I'm in the market for my first road bike. I'd like to find something in the low $1000 for mostly touring and fitness with the possibility of trying out racing. I've been riding MTB but it seems that I never have the time to get out to the trails.

The LBS that I normally deal with for MTB carries KHS and Guru along with Colnago and a few other brands. He suggested a KHS flite 700, but I just really don't like the color scheme from the pic I saw. Maybe I'm being silly.. He also showed me a Guru Flite, which seemed very nice. I was able to test ride a small 2003 Guru Flite and it seemed very smooth. So, I came home and started to try to find some information about Guru since I had never heard of them. Needless to say, I can't seem to find any information about the Flite. Has anyone had any experience with it and what are your opinions?

In my local shopping, Trek was ruled out due to the shop seeming like they don't want to sell us some bikes. So far, I've narrowed my selection to the following two:

Guru Flite - $1400
Specialized Allez Elite - $1100

Both are 105 gruppos.
The Guru shop I've dealt with before and I've been told he's very thorough with his fitting.
The Specialized shop was also very nice and seemed very willing to help. I've also read a lot of recommendations on the Allez Elite being a good buy for the money.

So what do you guys think of the Guru Flite?

Thanks

Here's the Guru (http://www.gurubikes.com/index2.htm) website.

Have you looked for info on the Guru at RoadBikeReview.com (http://www.roadbikereview.com/defaultcrx.aspx)?

Don't drop the KHS bike from your list because of the color scheme. It isn't that bad. It's a top quality bike you'd be very happy with.
