My Halloween this year was more of a Hallo-SCREAM!!!! Just sayin'. :innocent:

<rant>
Incident #1

Remember Ammo? The dog that was so sick recently....well his brother, Solomon, hurt himself Saturday morning. We let them in to the back yard through a sliding glass door, but Solomon usually tries to start running out before it's open all the way. He's hit it going through more than once.

This time he really hit it hard and was going faster than normal. He started screaming his leg has just been chopped off. I ran out there to check on him...he was holding his leg up. I barely touched the leg and he screeched again.

I yelled to Hope to get dressed we needed to get to the emergency vet. I thought his leg was broken. I picked his 70 lb carcass up and carry him back in to the house. I set him down to try to get him to stay while I got and put clothes to go out on.

I notice he starts walking away and putting some weight on that leg already. Within about 1 minute he appears to be putting full weight on the leg. I tell Hope and call the vet trip off.

Damn drama queen! :mad:

Incident #2

We (Hope and I) went to a friend/co-worker of mine's house for a Halloween party. He lives on a corner and we parked right at the corner of the house where the two roads meet. We go in and spend some time at the party, all is fine. We leave about 10pm or 11pm.

We get a few feet out of the house and Hope reminds me that we left the food and container that we'd brought in the house. I give her the keys to get in the car and run back in for the dish. When I come back out and get to car I hear my voice from down below....on the ground. Hope had misjudged the curb in the dark and fell and slammed her knee VERY HARD on the curb (elbow too). She couldn't get up...laying there on ground beside the car.

Long story short, she couldn't walk until we got home and then only with heavy assistance. We went to the doctor last night.....he could tell from the movement she was able to make that nothing was broken, but it's probably a hard bone bruise.

She's getting a knee brace to keep weight off her knee for a while now.

What a freaking Hallo-SCREAM we had this year! :mad:

Ugh, bone bruises are not fun. I had one for a year after taking out Mr Coffeecake on the bikes.

My Halloween was fairly uneventful except for one amusing incident. Mr Coffeecake had just replaced the tire on his beater MTB and was lubing the chain, just as the doorbell rang. As I was about to open the door, there was this unholy BANG from upstairs accompanied by much shouting. I open the door, and the 7 year old fairy princess is booking it off the porch. I was saying "It's ok, it's ok, want some candy?" as her parents looked at me and the SO continued to shout "FRICK FRICK FRICK". The tube had exploded on the tire he'd just replaced, blowing it off the rim right next to his ear.

Mr Coffeecake eventually regained his hearing, but I wonder what the neighbours are thinking.

Well let's just predict that the number of rugrats at your house next year will be SIGNIFICANTLY less.
