I just wanted to see if anyone has any diet advice for the final days before the race...I remember when competing as a swimmer that we loaded on carbs the night before, this of course being before the low-carb craze going on now. Is this still a good idea? Any energy boosting ideas would be great!
Rest and hydrate. Don't overeat with the reduced training though. Only eat what you know you can handle, don't change anything at this point.
Good luck and have fun.

Everything I've ever read/heard says to not try anything drastically different just before a race. What distance of a race are you doing? I try to really focus on drinking plenty of water in the days before a race, and day before having several smaller meals throughout the day - not a huge feast! I couldn't live w/o carbs and maybe it's psychological, but a nice pasta meal with some protein & veggies is one of my favorite night-before meals. Also I love a big bowl of oatmeal morning of the race, and a banana shortly before! Of course, this is what works for me, I am sure everyone will have different suggestions. Good luck and most important - have fun!

I am doing a sprint - .4 mile swim, 20 mile bike, 4 mile run. Thanks for your favorite meals! I am not planning on winning at olympic speed here, so I will probably enjoy a big hearty bowl of spaghetti the night before and hope for the best :)

First of all, good luck. My advice primarily can be good for cycling, but you can apply it as far as you wish. Try to avoid some things, like meat (beef and bacon), absolutely no softdrinks especially with gaz, however hydration is vital, therefore hydrate as much as possible (no ultimates ofc). I recommend black or grey rice, corn and banana, and some energy food and drinks just in the morning when race starts. Hope it will help you. Good luck again
