I'm going to go ahead and get a polar 725 and am curious about the PC software that comes with the kit.. Does anyone know if you get the software that the TdF riders were using to publish their HR graphs to the internet?
I'm a total numbers/graph geek.. gotta have it :)
Thanks-
Jim

well, it's the software i had to analyse those files! You do need to go to the Polar site regularly to download updates to the software (which are free), and Polar introduces new downloads when they or the public come up with new ideas!
of course, however, the actual software used to *publish* would have been different, but i got no idea what that was!

Ric- thanks for the reply..
I'm not worried about publishing the graphs to the web as I can do that, I just want to make sure I can make those things on my PC.
I'll make sure that I stay updated from Polar as well.
Thanks again-

short update:
Got the 725 from the FedEX guy yesterday.. Did a 5mi TT with the local group and got to use the thing a little. What a fantastic tool.. I can tell it is going to take some time to get up to speed with the thing.
After reading other comments about Polar monitors/software being kinda crummy this is not my impression.
Setup was straightforward, software installed easy, and I got the update. The cadence and speed sensors installed well and easily..
looking forward to reading the manuals more and learning how to interpret the results. One thing I noticed right away is that my max HR is higher than the computed maxHR.. Im a 35YO male at 174lbs. Polar computed my maxHR at 180. I rode the entire TT at 181 avgHR... At the top of the climb I was 186.
take care-

the computed HRmax is based on (i assume) 220 - age = HRmax, this has a standard deviation of +- 15 b/min, so don't expect it to be accurate except for group populations.
if you want to know your HRmax, do a test. this is related article http://www.cyclingnews.com/fitness/?id=powerstern
