Northern California - Modesto area rides

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm going to be in the Modesto area (a bit north of the city in Ripon) and am wondering if there are any recommended road rides in the area. 50-100 miles or so I'd say...
I see Mt. Diablo is not TOO far... could be a 70 miler to it (i like climbing) any recommended routes to get there from the Ripon area?
You might want to consider just driving to there or near there and then doing Diablo from there. Otherwise, you could search for a route on http://ridewithgps.com. Just do a search starting from Ripon. There are a bunch of loops in the Tracy area that go over the Altamont. You could start at Tracy, go over the Altamont and then go to Diablo. It would be a long ride I suppose. There are a bunch of long rides that include Diablo on that site as well.
Just some thoughts.

If you like flat rides you will stay in Modesto. A good ride I do on the weekends is Modesto to Roberts Ferry to Knights Ferry , orange blossom rd. back to River Rd. back thru the North side of Modesto.
If I want to go 70+ you can always go to La Grange and back around.

I like River Road. There aren't a lot of stops. In fact, S. Murphy to McHenry is almost 9 miles with no stops and very little traffic.
You can probably make a pretty good route including River Rd.
