73 = 100???
Our Calfornia friends, Herb and Cre, came out Tucson way and gave us call. Had brought their Co-Motion tandem and wanted to go on a couple tandem toots with us. Got in two nice rides, and as usual, shooting the breeze and some socializing. Found out that stoker Cre, who has been tandeming only 6 years, just rode her first 100-miler . . . at age 73! What a stoker!!!
Way to go lady!
Growin' old is not for sissies . . .

I'm only 50 and I don't know if I'll ever do a 100. Have done and will again do some 50's but I don't think my wife will make it.... Will I?

I'm 64 and stoker is 60. We're still going strong. I'm not quite as strong as I used to be, but I could still go out and ride a century any day of the week. Stoker has never been stronger, and all because of our having had a tandem for a couple of years. I don't know why I didn't push getting one earlier. Selfish, I guess. I wanted to go out and race with my droogs. Ve get too soon old und too late schmart. We're gradually working up the mileage. Stoker claims she'll never ride a century, has no desire to, but we all know how the dark side beckons . . .

You know how hiking and biking, every once in a while you see real oldsters still out there doing it, like our Twogether pair? I finally am starting to figure out why they are so few. It's not lack of desire. The folks we see are the survivors. You all take care out there, you hear? And take care of your bods and each other like you take care of your bikes.
