This past Saturday I was going to go out for a nice 40 mile ride but had to return after 28 for fear that my nipples were going to fall off. It was about 95 degrees and I was so wet that sweat was leaking thru my cleats, soaking my pedals, etc. Obviously, my jersey was beyond its wicking capacity. So, while I'm sure I know why it happened, I'm wondering if it happens to anyone else, and what you do about it. Wetnurse cream? Shaving and taping? For those of you who might ask, it was a Saeco jersey. Maybe Simoni has this problem, and maybe this is why Cippo had to leave Saeco.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wear an undershirt of some sort...i really like the de-feet Un-de-shirt. They are a bit pricey, but, worth it. I dont notice being any hotter, but, i sure do notice how much more comfortable they are. They fit much tighter, so they dont blow around and chafe you.

we used to tape up for running. hell, they even make nipple-sized bandaids. just cover up and go.

I use the little circular band-aids. No more nipple chafe.

buy medical tape from the drugstore and just throw a couple of pieces on your chest. it's cheap and one roll should last you all year.

you can use the stuff people put on the crotch to reduce skin damage.

I don't want to delve into the world of TMI, but I don't shave, I'm just careful in the placement and have no problems.

I like to wear Underarmor brand shirts under my jersey.

I have jerseys that cause the problem and ones that don't. I use the little round band-aids just to be safe.

I too wear Under Armour compression shirts as a base layer under jerseys...works very well IMO and keeps the moisture off your skin.

If you are going to put any kind of tape or adhesive backed substance on your nipples or the area around it, put it on a pair of old denim jeans first then peel it off, that way it's not as sticky and won't hurt like the spanish inquisition when taking them off.

Like they said, use the Underarmour compression shirt. Completely eliminates "nipple rage" for cycling and running. :)

Use Bag Balm, or some other chamois cream. Bag Balm works great for me upstairs and down. You can get it at your local drug store. I can't imagine tape on my hairy chest. YYEEEOOOOOOWWWWWW.

For what its worth, I have a friend who swears by putting deodorant on his nipples for this very problem. I always laughed at him, as I've never had a problem with this, but maybe theres something to it. Hes been doing it for about 2 years now . . .

I have had that problem in the past. It is surprisingly painful and annoying isn't it? The tape over the nipples routine works pretty well. I was once on a bike camping tour and a friend of mine made a slighting comment about my "protection". The next day he had a chaffing problem and had to borrow some tape :D .

...my nipples were going to fall off...

Here's the cheapest solution yet --- Why not just cut 2 holes in your jersey?

Coolmax Alta is soft, and my favorite jersey material.
