I am doing a build and need a pair of 10 speed Campy brifters and I am getting sticker shock. Everything of quality is $200 to $400 dollars. There was a time on Probikekit.com where Veloce could be had for $100-$120. Now even Nashbar's house brand is $200.

Prices have risen substantially - a pair of 105 spd-sl's have x2'ed in cost over the last 1-2 years. The same ones.

Used parts are equally as high. I hate to say "suck it up" but that's about all you can do. I've been looking for some Veloce or Centaur brifters myself. I'm also coming up empty. All I see are old crappy ones that need a rebuild for over $100. By the time you put parts into them it's better to buy new. Good luck

Not to sound too much like an old grouch but do you REALLY need brifters? They're a big reason that new road bikes are so d---'ed expensive. Bar ends are way less than half the price and never seem to fail and DT shifters are practically free. You can also adapt DT shifters to locate conveniently on the bars.

Just sayin'

You just have to wait for an ebay giveaway. I sat around and bought a set of new Veloce with cables for about $90 earlier this year. But you may have to wait 6mo-year for the next round.

2009 Veloce 10 shifters for $127 at Ribble (plus shipping).

I got nice Chorus & Centaur calipers, new, a few years old on Ebay for good prices.

I searched for brakes and tires and was surprised that Amazon had better hook ups than ebay.

Ant from my experience with them isn't worth it. They define crappy customer service.
