I need help choosing were to mount a cam. I will be riding the Iceman this Saturday and a buddy is letting me borrow his VIO cam. I ran a few test today and would like your opinion. I tried three mounts through the shock, under the saddle facing forward and handlebars.

i like the one behind the fork but i think it would get dirty fast. You should try and mount is on your chest, i have seen it done before and makes for good footage.

i would say the third one. but if there is any way to get it to mount to the side of your frame that would be cool. like in the video link

third one. the second clip gave me the heebie jeebies. it's good if you can catch the handlebars just in frame of the helmet cam.

I like the third one 'cause it feels like flying without any part of you or the bike in the frame. Definitely not the 2nd one; it's way too up-close-and-personal. The first ones cool in a gimmicky sort of way. It would be good for demonstrating how forks work, but I doubt that's your goal.

1st a bit too low; second has TMI; 3rd a bit too 'disconnected.' One of the best mountings I've seen (aside from Pete's wide-angle helmet cam shots) is a chest-mount: good height, perspective and sense of depth, if you can rig that with a lipstick-type cam.

Yes, I prefer the view from a chest mount as well. Being able to see your arms, bars and some of the front tire is great.
