I have a Soma Doublecross DC with an Alfine front hub and I am curious as to whether or not this hub will stand up to offroad riding (as much as the DC can handle). It won't be insane singletrack, but primarily dirt roads. I just would like to be able to use dynamo lights, if possible.

Anyone else out there try such thing?

I was chatting with the maker of the Light On LED light: http://lightonlights.com/dynolight/ on Sunday. He was saying that he does most of his riding off-road. You can ask him how "extreme" his riding is.

Per their web site the Supernova E3 Triple is primarily designed as an MTB dynamo light so should be suitable. Used in some 24 hour MTB enduro events held in Europe. Expensive however.

I've got the older -71 version and I ride it off road on XC trails, no issues. The QR and axle are the same as my XT hubs, I don't see any reason it can't go anywhere an XT MTB hub goes.
