The team that Lance rides for would never do such a thing. The photo's fake.

I've accidently parked in front of a hydrant before. I think they should paint the curb red in front of them to remind people not to park there. sometimes when you're in a hurry and see a spot you forget

Actually you would have been towed. But an official postal vehicle can't be ticketed or towed under normal circumstances.

red is for corners, and your standard "no parking" zones and bus zones. i think white is for loading? i think the ones in berkeley are red...but they might be yellow.
how does one not notice a fire hydrant?

The fire hydrant is camouflage to match the two poles....

Curb colors mean different things in different states and even different cities.

I had to look hard to see what you were talking about. We don't have visible hydrants, ours are under ground.
But really, why aren't the damn things yellow or red? Someone have extra stealth camo paint that day?

It's an urban design thing. Reds and yellows make your streetscape look cluttered and ugly, much like groups of several paperboxes with bright colors.

All the ones in Green Bay are yellow and green.

I'm sure the fire department would have had no problems busting out the windows of the car if they need to get a hose to the hydrant. I've seen it done before, and it sure teaches the owner a lesson.
