I'm in need of some semislicks, but don't want to spend too much money. I was thinking about the Bontrager Revolt SS, but it's a little too spendy. I called a local bike shop asking for the michelin jet s, but they were out, but had some serfas vermins. Has anyone heard anything about serfas tires? I can't find much on them. Thanks

You can usually get Revolt SS tires on ebay for peanuts.

none right now, just the revolt.

Have you heard anything about serfas tires, they seem unpopular.

I think the revolt SS is the way to go for semi-slicks if you can just hold out until you find some cheap ones

Also, check out this thread, it seems relevant:

I'd save for a pair of high roller semi slicks.

oops, I bought them.

Oh well, I'm not too hardcore, I'll mostly be using my bike to commute at college. The bike is a '96 Rockhopper, so I don't want to throw too much $$ into it.

I just realized the guy at the shop gave me two front tires, I'll have to go back.

couple questions...
1.What is so bad about these? bad tread pattern, too heavy?

2. I mounted my front tire, but I'm not sure of the rolling direction because they don't have arrows so I didn't take the effort to take my back one off. How do I tell?

Here's the tires

They're just a cheaper tire. I guess for your intended use, they will serve their purpose well. What makes a cheap tire cheap?

Usually the rubber is ROCK hard. Although that means it will last a long time, it also means that your traction will suffer as a result. They are also heavier.

Again, these aren't BAD traits for a tire being used primarily for commuting. Cheaper tires are sometimes better for utilitarian uses. No point is buying $50 tires for cruising around and back and forth between classes.
