Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Any pics info of a one off (one hole off) radial lace? I am thinking of lacing one - but I heard a story about twisty hubs at the lbs the other day.

Why would you do that?

I just talked to a dude who has built one. It is laced 4 holes off with a 3x length spoke. 1 or 2 off will just twist the hub back to a radial lace.

Why would you do that?

Same reason you would run bullhorns on that panasonic. Personal preference.

I'm not asking bc of personal preference or to be a wiseass, but to try and understand why you would want to do this from a performance standpoint.

Naturally I'd assume this is going on a front wheel, but I have never seen or heard of anyone building a strong wheel radially lacing one/two/three holes over. The strength from a radial lacing comes from the fact that "the spokes are directly in line with the main force vectors that shape the wheel".

I'd probably just stick with a legitimate radial lacing and save the tarck lacing for show bikes. My other sonic has risers, btw.

One side would have to be all be trailing spokes, and the other would all be leading. That is going to seriously torque your hub shell and could snap it. If you do this and hurt yourself, please post pictures.

this sounds like a wheel that adriano would build.

I'm not on here often - and when I am - its usually seeking specific information. I have a background in building up old vw's, and when something serves no function (aside from aesthetics) it is understood that its function is not formal.

I am in the practice of spending time making things that do nothing more than look pretty. While I am far from the only one on this forum doing so - there are many that fail to admit it. This is not intended as a daily nyc romper front. I am building it for fun.

I go to art school and I just can't help it. My bike is a conversion. Yes, a conversion, but it's absolutely TAF, and I love it.

yeah G. I wasn't going to say it - but I was mainly talking about my painting/printmaking/sculptures.

I started out on a conversion too - they have soul. You have to invest time before just jumping into a dialogue you cant hang with. Although I do love seeing kids on 3k builds who can't track stand.
