General Cycling Discussion - BikeForums addiction

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Some experts now believe that BikeForums can be a destructive, time-wasting habit. A few even call it an "addiction." They have
provided a simple test to determine if you, too, may be a victim.
Just select from the following choices whatever describes you best, as honestly and accurately as possible:

I voted 30-60 minutes. Probably closer to 30.
I think of it as more of an inspiration to ride more than an addiction. As everyone here knows, the bike riding community is extremely small, and to have others to talk to about it who are as enthusiastic about it as I am is great. I think the reason some get so addicted is because they have no one else to talk to about it. I know I don't. No one I know would understand.
I voted 60-120.
When I'm at home it is 30-60, but at work it is often 3-4 hours per day, which was not a choice. As I said in another post, logging onto BikeForums at work keeps me from going "postal". ;)
I voted 60-120 min. a day, which is the current rate. It has varied from none to probably three hours; and there have been many times I've been up past 3 AM on Bike Forums and elsewhere, but I might have been awake anyway, so that doesn't prove anything.
As much as I like Bike Forums, and as I've said before I have not found such an intelligent group of people ANYWHERE on the Web (and that includes NY Times and Utne forums), I still do think 60 to 120 min. a day is excessive.
Part of my problem is that as a (non-practicing) alcoholic, I have a strong "all or none" character streak (or flaw): it upsets me not to be able to read ALL the posts. So I often read too many. (I buy a box of cookies and eat the whole box at one or two sittings.)
Just call me neurotic.

i voted for 30-60 min
I visit 8 or so times a day when between labors. As little as 5 and as much as 15 mins at a time. Is that an addiction? Maybe, but a harmless one.

I admit, I have a serious problem.

It's Johnny Bravo! :)
I, er...WOW! The REAL Johnny Bravo...um, did I ever tell you, you're the MAN! :D
(Just one word: why do you let those girls treat you like that? If I were you, I'd ask them to cut it out, but that's just me!)
:duff:
Hey, do you like, "The Simpsons?"
What I want to know now is: Is this really your birthday, Pete, or is it just a part of your many costumes and disguises? If it really is, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :bday:
But if it isn't, I take it all back and I also want your slice of the cake. :p

I actually tried to be sneaky and vote twice!!! But I got caught!!!!! I really spend an average of 30 -- 60 minutes most times but then there are those days I miss/withdraw from not going on line. I guess you can say I'm suffering from PTSD or Posting The Stuff Daily -- syndrome! Jeannie
