Introductions - Well, look what the google dragged in...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hullo folks,

I was looking for a source of winter (stud) tyres on google and came across this place. Seems an interesting place with some friendly conversations so I thought I'd pull up a chair and join in.

Getting back into commuting now after a break of a couple of years, ride 10 miles each way on my ex-racer with straight bars and a dynohub and 150psi 700x20 tyres - potholes are not my friends. Also inflict some erosion to the mountains, some weekends on foot and other weekends on my Pace F7, a beautiful piece of British engineering.

So hello to all, I'm Richard.

Hi Richard, I'm sometimes civil, sometimes not. I like having a pint and giving semi-educated advice and making bad jokes.

Nokkian make studded tires, and seem well liked by members. I ride knobbied mtb tires all year, all conditions, even road.

You can corner fine on them road...If you get the right ones, and don't mind a buzz all the time.

Do you ride a road bike? Not sure what a 'Pace' is. I ride a Ritchey mtb. Kinda historic or something as a builder.

I know very little about snow\ road tires, though I believe last winter a member named those big chunks of black snow that fall from car wheel wells "car turds' and that really made me laugh.

Peace=

Hey Jeff, check out www.Pace-racing.co.uk for the details of the loveliest of things, some tubes are square externally butted tubing building up into a whole which rides like it's filled with helium. I ride onroad, offroad and sometimes load up the panniers to tour and yeah I eventually found a source of the Nokian tyres which I'll put on my 26" wheel tourer for winter commute

Cheers,

In fact, I'll try to attach a photo of it (& note the Ritchey chainset) though Mac files sometimes have a problem clambering onto this interweb thing. Here goes nothing...
