Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - stupid bike setup question

i'm planning to build up a fixed-gear bike. i sold my other one and have been riding a road bike for a while now. now, i have some stupid questions about my planned setup, and am wondering if anyone can give me any advice.

first, a list of components:

leader 725tr 2010 frame + aluminum steerer carbon fork + fsa zs headset
mavic open pro to formula from bicyclewheelwarehouse (or maybe the dt swiss)
sugino 75 bb + sugino rd messenger crankset
EAI cog + DA lockring or some other good lockring
thompson / other threadless stem + deda crono (bullhorns) or deda pista (drops)
leader 27.2 seat post + specialized toupe saddle
shimano SPD or speedplay time atac alium pedals.
a front brake....

so, my questions are:

will the formula rear hub be compatible with a 45mm chainline? i can't find any info about this anywhere.

is there a way to use 25.4 bars (nitto b019s look very awesome) with a 1 1/8" threadless stem?

is there anything else anyone would recommend on this build besides the obvious "don't get a leader"?

i am fine with aluminium. my two fixed-riding friends both have aluminium frames (a GTB and a giant bowery) and we've gone on long rides with no comfort problems. i ride an aluminum road bike with a carbon fork / alum steerer and have no comfort problems. on this build, my bars will be taped obviously. i dont foresee any comfort problems.

i could care less about doing barspinzzzzzzz. i live on the top of a very big hill and want to go fast coming down and up and around the city. so because of this, i am not going to tarck out the bike with an expensive, heavy aero front wheel, because even if the aero advantage outweighs the weight, and even if it would look really cool, i have to climb 600 feet to get home every day and i usually end up doing that climb 2 or 3 times.

i plan on running around 75 or 80 GI.

why do you need a 45mm chainline?

An the 1 1/8 has to do with the clamp on the steerer tube of the fork, not the handlebars. you can buy stems in 1 1/8 by 25.4.

i know that!! lol can you point me to one of these stems you speak of? i haven't been able to find any.. i only find 1 1/8" threadless to 31.8 clamp.

one bit of advice - I wouldn't be too set on too high a gear ratio. often higher GI =/= faster.
I'm especially aware of this as i'm running about 74 GI at the moment and am looking at upping the cog size to get 70 as my spinning is getting better.

yeah. climbing on a 80 GI ratio sucks. but 75 i think is about perfect for not having to spin my as s off to get over 40mph on the downhills.

You should just get a different crankset. Get one that has a standard 42mm chainline and that isn't using a $90 bottom bracket. Put the saved $50 into bearing upgrades on your formula hubs, or get a carbon seat post (reduce vibrations to the tush).

You could try the andels from bens (http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=188_193_660&products_id=8187), they come with the bb for $165. Crankarms weigh 586 grams, chainring weighs 114g, Total = 700g. 144 bolt circle. Although chainline is 43 not 42.

You can do either. some people use cans and cut them to shape.

i have heard some things about leader frames being easily creaky, so i thought it would be a good idea to invest in a good bb. especially if i end up getting sugino 75 cranks in the future (and hopefully a better frame), that'll be nice.

i don't see why i would upgrade my wheel bearings and not my bb. i'm pretty sure the formulas will be just fine.. why not invest that money into the bb, especially with the creaking issues i've heard about in leader frames?

Sugino 75 BB's are ISO taper and 109,RD's need JIS taper and 103.

EAI cogs on formulas give a 44ish chainline btw.

OK, noted about the EAI cog vs. chainline. yes, i just automatically thought the rd messengers were set up to play nice with the sugino bb.. turns out this is not the case at all.

i made some changes.

s75 is a REALLY nice unsealed BB and i like working on my bike and maintenance but it's rainy season. i need sealed. so i switched that out for a miche primato bb. which is ISO 107mm taper. should work.

i found a good deal on some sugino 75 167.5mm cranks. so i'm getting those. getting a zen messenger ring. apparently the miche primato is adjustable within .5 mm so that's good.

a crabon seatpost would be nice. i'll shop around.

edit: i'm getting the primato in 110mm. the hubs + sprocket should give a 42.73mm chainline according to sheldon. shimano quotes a 42mm chainline with a 109mm bb, so i guess a 110mm should give 42.5mm. this is about perfect (enough for me) unless im doin it wrong.

A couple of millimeters off on your chainline is not going to be noticeable. Particularly with a road chain.

If you are really desperate to get the chainline "perfect" you can always redish the rear wheel.

U could also try a Phil wood iso bb it's sealed. Works great with sg75's and is adjustable 5mm each side to get that perfect chainline. Yeah it's a little pricy but just giving you a option I love mine

White Industries also makes a Sealed ISO BB for the Sugino 75 Cranks. And it works with the standard BB tool.

I have the Sugino 68 BB, which is just under the 75, but I'm going to get the White Industries when I get a little extra cash.

And i'm not running a road chain.. i'm running a 1/8" drivetrain. anyway, it's a leader.. the frame itself will probably not be within .5 mm of true over the entire bb to track end length.

yeah, i looked at both the white industries and the phil. but $100 for a bb is a lot of money. although a phil would be nice. really nice.

I'd probably get a 3T Zepp, mostly for aesthetic purposes. There are also offerings from Ritchey, FSA, Easton, and others. Where are you shopping?

i've been looking online for stems. but admittedly i havent been looking very long or hard. (thats what she said! wait..no!! that's not what she said at all!!) so thanks for all those. saved me some time.

and while i could get the rd messengers and flip the chainring, i have a smokin deal on some sugino 75's, and the miche bottom bracket is $20. add zen messenger chainring, and i'm set. so i got no problems there. i'm gonna look at these stems. thanks again for the help everyone.

wait a minute!! the thompson elite comes in 25.4?? and the EA70?! how have i overlooked all this?!! i guess i automatically thought they only came in 31.8 for some reason. damn...

as for where i'm buying.. i will try to buy as much as i can locally. but online is often cheaper even with shipping.
