I have a Brooks saddle. It may not last forever, but it should get me pretty close! :D

I also live independently from the grid.

However, as good as my Brooks saddle is, I'm not sure that it is assisting me in living independently from the grid.

I used it a while back to recover a couple of really sad looking saddles for the local bike coop. Now this instructable recommends you used marine vinyl and I bought a yard of it at the local fabric shop. It also uses some pretty heavy 3M glue, too, although certainly much the same as is in most original saddle covers these days.

I really like the Instructables web site. There are a number of them I've used to repurpose old equipment or material and make something useful.
