So I searched the mechanics forum to avoid pointless questions, and learned to my amazement that I am a spokinator, I was a spokinator when I started riding and I'll be one when i'm down to my fighting weight of 240 LBS.
I break spokes, and I must get a better 36 spoke (or more), hand built rear wheel to avoid this embarrassing problem on my current bike. (2003 GT Avalanche 1.0)
But now I want a new or used road/touring bike and need to avoid the spoke problem. I have not really narrowed down my search for this bike except to budget 600 to 1000 dollars. The question is, depending on what I buy, should I just go ahead and upgrade the rear wheel, and what other problems should I be aware of due to my large size? 6'4" 270
