My mom was on her way home from walking our dog, and my neighbor's tenant's pitbull came running across the street and attacked my dog. (the pitbull was wearing a muzzel) (also, according to the owners of the dog, it is 3/4 paralyzed in it's back legs) So, if they would've just apologized and let it go, I wouldn't have to deal with all of this. My mom kindly asks them to keep their dog under control, and the dog's owner, his stepdad, and his stepdad's girlfriend start screaming at my mom and start calling her a ****ing *****. Then my mom repeats that she just wanted their dog to be under control, and then the stepdad's girlfriend says, "If you don't like what we're doing then move." (the stepdads son has only lived there for 2 months, mind you, and we have lived in our house for about 13 years. Then my mom starts crying, comes home, and then calls the cops. I am infuriated, and of course, want to smash the dogs head in. So, now I am very insecure about my neighbor and his dog. Also, he isn't very trustworthy and he seems like he might steal my bike.

Sorry for being off topic, but I just felt like telling someone.

Good thing your mom called the cops. Make sure she files a complaint report. If this happens again (or anyother negative interactions with these wacky neighbors) you will have something on record showing it wasnt you or your mom starting trouble.

yeah, she is probably going to file a complaint. but these people aren't the owners of the house, they're just renters.

Plus this happened about an hour ago.

One day, just go let the pitbull out of their yard and call a rescue facility... Tell them there's a stray wandering around your street.

As for the neighbors themselves, you seriously need to go and talk with them. Knock on their door and call them out on it. Be courteous, but firm. Don't tell them that they overreacted but instead say something along the lines of "I'm sorry about what my mother said, by I do wish that you hadn't sworn at her. I think this is a fairly reasonable wish, and if you cannot abide to her request, I will indeed be calling the city." Have a friend with you or hiding in the bushes or something. Just in case. :innocent:

people who cant control their dogs need them taken away, there are proven methods to controlling unruly animals, and the only reason there are such animals are because of their owners. they obviously don't feel the need to control the dog or they would've hired someone by now... these types of people don't deserve pets.

keep your bikes inside, doesn't everyone do that?

no, but the dog thing, that was dick of your neighbors. you guys tried to be nice and they got too offended. maybe a visit to their house saying like "hey i don't mean to offend you at all, but i think your dog can cause a lot of trouble if you don't keep him on a leash. i'd like for you to respect my property, as i've been living here 13 years, and we'll respect yours as you're new to the neighborhood and would not want to start off on a bad note."

@handsomeryan, i can see how this thread would belong in foo but... it's a totally different demographic.

I keep my bikes inside at all times, but this dog was leashed. The stepdad's girlfriend just lost control of it.

whats the deal with those neighbors? are they uneducated hicks or something? i would totally **** them up for making my mom cry.

i'd say talk to the rest of you neighbors and have everyone keep an eye on them. if they get caught slipping everyone can complain to the cops. i guess that would be the safer way.

don't blame the dog. it really is probably more of a victim in this case. blame your neighbors for being b!tchez. and do make sure your neighbors know that attitude like this will not be tolerated.

Don't smash the dog's head in, it's not the dog's fault. The dog is just being a dog. It's your neighbor's fault. People suck, not dogs.

Watch out, that dog may chase you while you're riding next time.

If the people are renters, go to the city's website that registers the real estate owners and find out who owns the property - of course, after she makes the police report.

After this, go to your other neighbors and find out if any of them feel these people are a bane to the neighborhood. Tell them you are going to contact the owner and force him to take action. Convince them to support you.

Contact the owner and tell him what occurred and make sure you tell him/her that you made a police report. Be firm and make sure you tell him you will hold him responsible for any harm that comes to you, your family and your property. Tell him that the neighborhood is behind you on this(even if they are not - he'll never know) and "We"(you and your neighbors) all expect proper action be taken.

This is how I would start.

OP you hit that dog your no better than that ******* talking **** to your mom. Its not the dogs fault its the owners...

And I know how you feel, unfortunately today my dog and mom were attacked, my mom has stitches, my dog might be paralyzed. Do I blame the dog? No, its the owners fault and the last thing I wish is for their dog to be put down.
