A DYI version of bar end brake lights. Interesting project. If I had a longer commute with some better downhills I might try to build one.

Yeah, you can almost kind of see it if you're looking right at it.
They need to put some 1/2 watt LEDs in there.

Neat idea, but I would use it in conjunction with a rear-mounted brake light. I also agree that brighter LEDs would make it much, much better. I didn't do anything so fancy in creating my brake light. I've just got a simple rear, red LED strip that's triggered by a micro lever switch zip-tied to my rear brake cable. Simple and it works.
