Northeast - February BikeForums Nyack ride meetup?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

(I've posted this in FOO and ROAD RACING to see if I could get some people outside of the region to come. I'm not looking to make it HUGE, but seeing some people from other states would be amazing.)

---

Would anyone be interested in doing this? I'm setting my eyes on February.

I'm not sure if I've made mention of this here, but I'm thinking of doing something travel-related every month. While this won't really count as travel, it would be an awesome way to meet and ride with some of you guys in person.

No plans have been set in stone yet, but if we leave from the same departing area as the Escape New York Ride that happens annually, it would be approximately 60 - 70 miles of riding, round trip. There are some great coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants up there, and the huge Piermont Bicycle Connection on the way there. I'm looking for this to be mostly for roadies, since that's what I am and who I identify with best, but I can be flexible.

If the group is moderate enough, we could probably go out for lunch or dinner somewhere in NYC. What do y'all think?

Sounds good, I'm always up for rides up to Nyack/Piermont. You'll probably only get the hardcore riders at that time of the year anyway so chances are it'll be a good bunch up for a ride. Keep us posted.

ENY got those distances because of inderect routing. A straight run down 9W to Piermont from Sakura Park is maybe 36 miles, 42 to Nyack RT.

Let's pick a date so we can plan.

I live in Noo Joizy, a good bit south of the bridge, so I would bring my bike on my car and meet you in Fort Lee. I haven't done the ride to Nyack since I lived in Manhattan.

I'm planning to ride a fair bit this winter, so I should be fine for riding in February.

Interested. Just avoid the weekend of the 26th. Headed to Richmond for NAHBS.

I can't make it on the 13th, so I propose the 20th. Any objections?

Is there some sort of group calendar we can use? evite? What would work best to keep notifying the same group whereby we can keep inviting new people?

Just as a heads up. I would stick to 9W and avoid the extra hills such as Bradly, Tweed etc, even River Road due to possible Ice conditions. Remember the temperature will be about 3-5 degrees colder by Nyack/Piermont.

I'm in. Post ride-lunch is doable depending on how early we ride.

Feb 20/21 is probably the better weekend for me too.

We need something other than a bikeforums thread. A facebook group? Something else?

I propose Feb 20 at high noon, in Fort Lee.

That could be a pretty cold ride, but I'm game. I'll be the last one up the hill on the way back.
