Hi all,

Got my new road bike after riding around on the mtb long enough to know it was for me. The last few weeks, I've been doing 8-17 miles every other day. I was going further but could never seem to break the 20 mile mark.
Well yesterday I did my normal 17 mile routine as sort of a warm-up for todays ride. A guy from work rides and we met up and did a 30 miler. Thats 47 miles in 2 days..a personal best.
We had perfect 60 degree weather and beautiful backroad screnery almost the whole way. At one point we saw a pumpkin in front of a farm that had to weigh a few hundred pounds, lots of farms with horses and river/lake front riding. I feel great too...wish we rode a little longer. Just a few minor aches in the posterior and need to adjust my right cleat forward since I felt minor numbness.

If you are struggling with doing longer rides, invite a riding buddy because it helps.

Congratulation on the ride.
Good advice for LD riding.
Now you messed up. Get a camera and go back and take a pic of the pumpkin.

I am happy for you! The miles always seem to go faster when in good company. In a few months or so i will be hunting for riding partners too!

Good job! consistency is number one, if you keep at it you'll be up to 47 miles in a day in no time at all!

Congrats and I want to see said pumpkin!

47 miles is no small deal. I made my 30 miler and was so proud of myself I felt like putting on the Yellow Jersey and thanking my sponsors, LOL

Congratulations. And please bring a camera next time. You do have a "next time" planned soon, right?

Man....I wish I did have a camera. I brought one on earlier solo rides but thought bringing it this ride would slow me up. Won't make that mistake again.
I expanded my normal ride to a 22 mile loop every other day and was working on bettering my time. That is until it started getting dark right when I got out of work. It forced me to get a rear blinky and headlight and keep to the backroads.
This weekend is supposed to snow here in Connecticut so who knows, Santa might bring me a trainer.

To make up for the missed pumpkin, heres a page of pics from a ride earlier this year.
