Wife and I have just had too much stuff these last few months...just want it to be quiet.
Probably just a small/simple Turkey day meal between the two of us. Probably turkey, mashed taters (maybe sweet potatoes), green bean casserole maybe. Hope likes to bake...she'll probably make brownies or a pie or something.

They treat you with all that good food, and you'd give them something as gross and nasty as pea salad? Shame on you!! :p:innocent:

I made it for the Independence Day pot luck at work this past July, and it was the most popular dish.

We're having three (me, my wife, and my sister) for dinner (her b/f will join after), but my sister doesn't like turkey. Two meats for three people is silly, so I think she will have to man up. Other than that, no idea.

Unfortunately no company :( But pizza is pretty good as a leftover.
Will you be serving a fine beer with that?
I don't do alcoholic beverages, but chocolate milk works :)

I'm sensing an extremely non-vegetarian oriented meal theme.
we're having company again, so I am making Nekohime's graham cracker crust tiramisu once more, which people loved and have been asking for all year!
oh, and I just decided I am going back to being a full-on vegetarian again, although we haven't done a turkey for T-day in ages.

my family is huge and we always get together with relatives each year so it's a full blown cook out. I'm asian so we like to celebrate the international flag during our feast out. Every thanksgiving we house maybe 20-30 family and friends with a wide array of food selections.
So far we've planned the following:
Starters:
Sushi platter, cheese station (manchego, brie, sharp cheddar), sun dried tomato hummus dip, white honey truffle oil spread, shrimp cocktail plate, fresh buff mozz w/tomato and basil, and a selection of chips, pita chips, and blue chips.
The meal:
Baked Turkey, Fried Turkey, Smoked Ham, Prime Rib, Garlic Mashed Potatos, Baked Sweet Potatos, Bacon Stuffing, Green Bean Casserole, White Rice, Fried Rice, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, Spaghetti bolognese, baked ziti w/ricotta and meat sauce, filet of fish cakes in a lemon butter reduction, chicken cutlet and eggplant stacks w/fresh mozz inbetween, chicken/beef/cheese empanadas, rotisserie chicken slices, mac and cheese w/ham and peas crumb top burnt, and probably a large salad bar with cold toppings (olives, corn, mushrooms, broccoli, etc).
Thanksgiving is a big deal in my family, it's the time to get my WHOLE family together. My dad has 3 brothers and 3 sisters, my mother has 2 brothers and 1 sister. People arrive between 12-2, dinner starts at 2 and goes until 10pm. Around 6pm is the staple family touch football game and the wiffle ball game amongst cousins. We set up 3 computers in the living room with internet, xbox 360 / wii in my old room (live on my own in manhattan), and blu-ray/dvd selection in the living room.
It's a feast!

All right, who let the Canadians in here with their "WE have Thanksgiving in October, we're SO morally superior to those dirty people south of the border!" talk!

The Fam Damily will be having two turkeys, lots of traditional stuff (sweet potatoes, stuffing, etc). The fun part for yours truly is I'm frying one of the birds. Mmmmmm.

Have you watched the turkey fryer safety video yet? :D
not a darn thing - going to SIL where they will have the same plain fare they always do. Personally I'd like to rebel and stay home and throw a duck in the oven, but my Mom wants a travel companion so that's me.
I'm gonna make a pumpkin soup.

I am not making Turkey... I hate turkey and every year I've made it. I can't even stand the smell! This year, I'm taking back control and making something I like to eat...
menu:
Fresh Brisket slow braised until tender
mushroom gravy
mashed potatoes
candied carrots
green beans with bacon and mushrooms
dessert: pineapple upside down cake and fresh whip cream
Not traditional at all... other than green bean casserole can't say I like any traditional Thanksgiving food. :o

love mushroom gravy!! Unfortunately not one person in my family is a fan of shrooms!
At work we have a big affair - for the Holiday - Dec. 7th this year - with the Deans throwing in the meat - roast beef, TURKEY and a huge ham and we all bring a dish to pass. Amazing at some of these little 2 & 3 cup tupperware bowls of stuff coming from some - but I normally bring something funky. Haven't decided on the "very different" dish to bring this year. Heh - always the first to the list of some of the people bringing in a small thing of napkins or a couple liters of pop, hehe. And then there are the "over-doers" (much like me) who bring in a casserole of stuff. I work with a diversity of people at work and I must say some of the Jamaican, Mexican, Puerto Rican (especially the beans & rice), Asian and African dishes are sooo wonderful!
Great meal!!!!
Unfortunately, the afternoon bog down from tasting a little from each dish really needs a nap afterward!

We will likely do what we've done the past two years... make a smorgasboard similar to a party tray and nibble at it. There's only the two of us so there's no reason to make a huge feast we can't eat all of.

Tude... since my family is of mix race, we have all sorts of good stuff. Yeah there's the turkey and ham but also trays of sushi and sushi rice, enchiladas, eggplant parmesan (actually one of my favorites), jambalaya etc.
The point of the holiday is to be with friends and family... and apparently to eat until sick but that's another issue! :p
And who doesn't like mushrooms? Oh my gosh, I put them in everything! OK they won't be in the cake, but everything else!
