Of note:
-Collegiate road nats goes to Wisconsin (I like, I didn't want to deal with putting on AND racing nats this year)
- Collegiate track nats goes to Marion's home track, because they needed an even bigger fecking advantage I guess
- 'cross still in Bend, collegiate mtb nats still in Truckee (kickass!)
- elite/u23 nats still in Bend
- Greenville and Downers grove retain pro nationals
- Old Fart Nationals in Kentucky? Weird choice.

I guess this means I need to qualify for collegiate nats, seeing as it's and hour and a half away. Major Taylor is also a lot easier to get to than T-Town. Overall I like.

Looks like they moved Elite Nats to the month before Cascade. I knew lots of people who made one trip for both races last year. Oh well.

Kentucky got poor reviews from last year, the TT and crit courses were embarrassing. I guess they figure they needed that extra year to get it right. And it's Geezer, not "Old Fart".
College MTB's will be in Northstar. Not Truckee. Make that mistake again and the Northstar people will throw hot lattes in your face. Truckee is where "the help" lives.
I kid. But if you're going drop me a PM if you need a place to stay.
The one you missed is that Master's Track Nats will be 15 minutes from the Racer Ex Ranch and Bordello, at the Superdrome in Frisco. Truly worthy venue; 250m and 48 degrees of wood board bliss with a big old scoreboard.

Charlotte was trying to get the Geezer Nationals to come to its city. Man, that would have been really great. I don't see me going to Kentucky to get my butt handed to me.

Speaking of, I went for a ride with Roger a few weeks ago, and was looking at his jersey, it had this pattern of red, white, and blue stripes across the bottom. Was wondering if all the jerseys had it on the team he races for, and then it suddenly occured to me, oh yeah, he's a national champion. Cyclocross, starting from the 7th row.

Is the TT usually towards the beginning or end of the race-range?

Fun Fact:August is the hottest, most humid and most cloudy days of the year in Louisville. Good times
Hi,
I heard a lot of mixed reviews about the races in Louisville. The blog was the worst review but it was not easy to follow except that it was FUBAR for his race. (As an aside, I tried to read some of his other entries and I guess you have to be a local racer to figure out what he's talking about.) Some of the local SoCal folks thought the location and races were OK.
I don't know how USAC makes its final decision on these bids but they seem to regularly pick places where the weather is bad for Masters. I know of several who have been hospitalized because of heat exhaustion / dehydration during their events. USAC doesn't seem to remember that a lot of the competitors are old, not TdF racers.
Anyway, Louisville is too far for me to travel to get dropped. :p

Being Roger's teammate, I won't comment on his experience. However, others of us (in various races) found the whole setup to be VERY lacking in a number of areas. As an example, as one of the earliest to go off for the TT, I personally was not happy having to warm up for my start THREE TIMES as the race was delayed twice. Did I mention that two extra hours of sleep would have been nice? Or a little warning? Actually, that is just me whining a bit, but there really were a number of problems that just should not have been acceptable for a national caliber event.
Let me just say that overall, it could have been better.
