Texas - Trinity Trail Closed in FW at University

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The Trinity River Trail is closed at University Drive in Fort Worth. If you are following the trail and want to avoid the traffic on University, here is a handy detour (http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Trinity-Trail-at-University-Detour).

This detour goes around the closed section with a minimum of exposure to heavy car traffic. If heading toward downtown, exit the trail on Rogers, proceed north, then turn right on Collinsworth, a left on Wabash, and go into the shopping center. Turn right on the shopping center road that leads to the traffic light at University and Old University. Cross University at the light and follow Old University to the little traffic circle at its end, where there is access to get back onto the Trinity Trail.

When did the do that? The trail was closed just past University previously, and it started out with barricades, but they took them away (as well as the advanced notice of the trail closure/construction).

This is part of the same project. It was discussed on Fortworthology (http://fortworthology.com/2009/09/03/trinity-trail-work-near-rogers-road-and-university/) in September.

A pic of the trail, taken on Friday, from the other side of the river:

On the left side of the picture is the University Drive bridge; on the right side is the fence at the end of the construction zone.

Are the water crossings still flooded? Been a couple weeks since I rode my usual route. Route B doesn't give me a look.

They were this weekend.
The water level is starting to drop, but I am sure that the low-dams are very slimy after being submerged for three weeks plus.

The crossing at Overton Creek was still flooded on Saturday, but the crossing at 183 has been cleared of debris.
