Hi all,
I just bought a bike rack for the back of my car and would like to no what everyone is using to keep the wheels from spinning while I'm driving.
Yeah, I'm a nu-beee.
Thanks in advance :)

I have a thule 4 bike hitch mount and came with a belt to attach to the bottom sway bar . I put through the front tire around the frame and through the sway bar. That keeps the handle bars straight and the front wheel from spinning. I never noticed the back wheel spin at all.

I use bungee cords, tie downs or a lock on my rack depending on where I am going.

Well my wheels spin because of how the air flows around the car. The wheels spinning shouldn't cause any damage.
I use extra straps with my rack. I have a Yakima trunk rack and the excess strap works wonders. I'm just afraid I am gonna rip my trunk off!

I actually HATE that when it happens. Pet peeve and all!
I use a velcro strap for the handlebars. I squeeze the brake levers and velcro them down so the brakes are ON. Keeps them from spinning!

Does it actually matter if they are spinning?
With my rack, its on the roof and the front is locked down at the dropouts and the rear is strapped down.

most racks have straps that you cinch down. use the excess strap and just put it through the spokes, so it doesn't spin. just the little bit of weight and resistance from the strap going through the spokes is enough to keep it from spinning.
I didn't realize this mattered. I use a strap to keep my bars straight, because I don't want the bars to turn back and forth, but I don't give a flip if the wheel turns.
zip ties always work.
however another problem that you should look at thats a little more important than spining wheels is spining peddles. if you put more than one bike on the rack the cranks and peddles are just going to spin around hitting pretty much everything, but mostly the down tube, which can leave some deep scratchs. i usually just zip tie a peddle from one bike to a peddle from another, and that keeps them pretty secure.
