can anyone lead me in the right direction as to what i need and where to get it, i hear tha shimano is a good product for the crank and the cassette, but there are so many of them , also rims, brakes, shifters etc,

Your best bet is to purchase a complete bike kit. This will include everything you need to build your frame. When purchasing it, you can specify what gears you want on your cassette and cranks. You will also need to know your crank length, stem length etc. Poke around online and get familiar with all the components first.

This is a great kit for the money - good group, wheels and components - not a weak link.
