This sort of shirts should keep your body dry isn't it? - covered with tight jersey and "breathable" jacket, it did not keep my body dry. Not uncomfortable , but wet, I arrrived after a ride of about an hour+. Is this your experience too or am I just sweating too much? Wonder, if a longer ride will be comfortable if not cold in the end.
If you are sweating heavy nothing will keep you completely dry in cold conditions. But some kinds of base layers wick better than others. I have had the best luck with inexpensive open mesh weave polypro ski tops made for cross country skiing.
It works better if you use wool or fleece for the middle layer as it will draw some of the sweat towards it. Bike jerseys do not work well here if they are covered with a jacket. If the jersey is not covered with the jacket in more moderate temperatures it will work well. But when covered with the jacket it doesn't work so well.
