Northern California - New destination coffee shop in Penryn

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

For those of you that ride the Newcastle, Penryn area, there is a new coffee shop, called Trailhead Coffee and Cycling Lounge (opened two weeks ago). It is at the corner of Taylor Road and English Colony Way, across the street from the Griffith Quarry. It is run by cycling enthusiasts Jerry Cannon & Rob Johnson. Definitely a cycling kind of place. Road and mountain bikes are hanging from the rafters, looped videos of the Tour were playing. There is even a bike stand and bike tools available for quick repairs. We were on a tight ride schedule , so we couldn't sample the coffee, but the riders we talked to said it was really good. When they get to know you and you are riding by, you will probably hear one of them ringing the cowbell to remind you to stop in and say hi. Now we have a new destination coffee shop to go to before heading home. :thumb:

Trailhead has been open for quite a while, hasn't it? I've been there couple times, great people. Very friendly staff, and the owner even can help you with some of your bike issues (at least for me, my FD was having issues)! Lots of cycling groups stop/pass by from all around.
Great place. If you see a kid with an Allez, a light blue jersey and a white helmet sitting there, that's probably me :X
Excellent! Thanks for letting us know.

Cool! Are there mountain biking trails around there. Might be a cool place to start and stop a ride.

Nice! Aren't there a bunch of MTB trails around Folsom Lake? Is there still some crazy homeowner that shoots at MTB'ers as they ride by his backyard?

Nope.

Yep. Great trails on the north side from Granite Bay and on the south side from Folsom and or El Dorado Hills.

Lolz. He's been known to get a bit testy at MTB'rs poaching (http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=464926&highlight=browns+ravine) on the hiker/equestrian trail next to his property.

Yesterday was our 38th anniversary. We decided to ride our tandem up to Trailhead and enjoy a cup of coffee. It was really good. Jerry & Rob are great guys. It was a little slow, so we spent time swapping bike stories. Great way to spend a day. Thanks guys.
