When I installed my shimano 105 crank awhile back, I didn't take much notice to the 'raised' spline. As I remember it, I just moved it to a position that seemed to fit. Is it easy to misalign the splines on those cranks?
The reason I ask is because I am getting this sound from what I think is the crank. It's a mix between the sound you'd hear if you threw a penny at an aluminum frame, or think of it as two small pieces of metal pressed together VERY tight, and while they're still compressed, move them across eachother. It happens SOMETIMES when I pedal hard, or go over bumps. I just hope I didn't install the crank wrong, it seemed like a very easy thing since I just fit it on there and put the bolt in. Also I didn't grease the inside of the BB spindle, should I have done that?
