I used Google Earth to look at a trail I wanted to try and noticed that the elevation was posted at the middle bottom of the screen. I was able to look at a huge variety of places to ride. If you trace the trail you can track the elevation gains and losses. I could also estimate the distance a Loop or Detour. I also found out how to get out of a canyon and find a Starbucks. Then you can print out a map of the new playground. H

I searched the threads and couldn't find this info, hopefully it will be helpful.

Important stuff, for sure. And an important pre-ride beverage, at least for me. I found that a number of the bike shops in Moab have espresso machines. :thumb:

AH, life's simple pleasures. I like adding a slice of Lemon bread as a mid ride treat. BTW-wore my two new layers this morning, it was 42, chilly for us desert dwellers.

Be wary of the trails you see in GoogleEarth. I know the images they use here in SoCal are a few years old and a lot of the trails that are not used constantly are either overgrown, completely gone or fenced off.

TRUE! I was planning todays ride last night, new area for me. Some of the details didn't look right for what the BLM had stated and then noticed that the map said JUNE 2007.
