Yeah, pics suck cause my camera broke so I used the cell cam. It's really strange when a grrl asks you to go ride with her! Funny, I would think my friends with high dollar climbing machines an wheels would be the ones to invite me on a 40 miler with 5,000 ft. Nope, it was "The GRLL"l! :thumb:
I have bout 3 buds that will do the ride and 2107 buds that won't return PM's with "GMR" in the title!:roflmao2:

Unlike my tough guy friends!:D......She's never claimed to be hardcore, macho blah blah blah, just rides. I did a century last June with 10,000 ft of climbing. I didn't really know her before we met on a training ride with mutual friends. She would have ben the last one I thought would try the ride, but she did..........AND COMPLETED IT (within time limits):thumb:

Even with a cell cam, I love the pictures. I would just like a riding partner, be glad you have people asking you to go riding.

I am willing to do it with you. I don't know if I am strong enough yet. Most of my climbs are half the length of that and elevation of that. But I will let you know when I am ready.

Sheesh! Move to California! I've got about 4 riders asking to go on rides. I can't keep up!:(...But maybe it will slow since my camera is toast!
I'm thinking of organizing a ride up this climb in the near future with the Socal forum. I bet we get 30 riders!...that will more than likely knock out 3 of the riders wanting to go!:thumb:

Cool! I have mornings off. Weekdays would be best. If not possible, I'm planning on organizing a SoCal forum ride up GMR. Hopefully within 3 weeks.:D

So Mr. Beanz...when are you signing up to do D2R2 (http://www.franklinlandtrust.org/randonnee.html)? That's a century ride in Mass. with 15,670' of climbing, 70% on dirt roads.

Well let's just say, "thank goodness I don't live in Mass":D...My brother and I do a pretty karaoke to the BeeGees song, though!:p

Cool! Let me know for sure.
P.S. I have gone up the back way from 39 in the past (long time ago) and then down the front. But I have never gone up GMR from Glendora. But like I said, I am sure willing.

Hey Mayor Beanz,
Thanks for a fun ride as usual! Had a great time.
bigtempo,
If you can do half, you're ready to go up GMR. Just ask the Mayor to take you to the shack, which is 8 miles uphill. That's how I started. You don't have to go to Baldy Village at first. Just riding GMR will get you ready to do the entire ride.:thumb:

We did that about 2 years ago on a forum ride they called The Bloat Ride. It was right after Thanksgiving. That explains the BLOAT!:D
We rode from Encanto Park (near the Miller beer factory) up hiway 39, east fork, up little GMR (backside) across GRR to the village. Then back across GRR to big GMR down to Glendora, then across Sierra Madre back to the park. About 67 miles with 6500 ft. There were about 20 of us.:thumb:
Another bud from the forum and I did hwy 39, east fork, up little GMR then down big GMR. I think this is the way you are talking about. I'm sort of hesitant to ride on 39 now. The traffic is FAST and tight shoulders!
Last year on Hyw 39. Forum member "JustMe" and that's my face taking my own picture. That road scares me!

Notice the first pic, the sky is brown!. Skies turned blue after we reached some elevation! Looking back down , we could see an ugly brown cover in the air. Yuck, but I guess still better for riding than in the rain!:D
Let us know when you move out here, we'll organize a welcome ride for ya!:thumb:
