Quick question:
If I have a set of shimano barend shifters that click with 8 clicks, are these 9 speed? I think the answer is yes, I just didn't know if there are any weird circumstances or something.
Thanks,

Thanks,
9 speed. The start position of course is 1, plus another 8.

yes. you start counting at 1, not zero.

Obfuscation central here.
What he means is that you are already in the first position (not position 0), then the 1st click takes you to position 2, etc. But in any case, the answer is yes.
Although my 10s Campy bar-ends have 10 clicks and eleven positions. Position 1 doesn't have the right spacing (unusable), so in essence I do start counting with zero.

You bought that from Nigel Tufnel, didn't you...?
