Foo - How observant are you

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Now count aloud the Fs in the above. Count them only once: do not go back and count them again.
Then scroll down.
Most people only see three Fs. There are six.
Why do we miss the others?

cause we are foosters....we only see F's at the beginning of words....and usually 4 letter words.
that's not a test to discover how observant you are, it's a test to see if you're autistic.

You tell me no count aloud, so I no count aloud and I wouldn't know how to turn-a them into county's if I did.

stuffed your glasses case down your pants to impress the girls again, eh? :thumb:
I got only 3. So I went back again and still only got 3. Where are the others?
Got 6. We tend to skip over short words and not read them closely. The 'of's' demonstrate that perfectly.

For some odd reason, I got 5 the first time. Hmm.

I missed all the F's in all of the "of"s. Its just one of those words that my brain filters out in order to read faster. I wonder if you could do the same experiment with a different letter. Like the H in from the word "the". Very interesting.

I don't know if it's a first/last thing, a long/short thing, or a f/v thing.

Observant enough to notice the grammatical and spelling errors in the instructions...
Does this mean I'm autistic?
if people count 3 there are 3. perception = reality. I got 5 the first time, 6 the second.

Experienced readers read entire words, not letters.
Wow, I seriously think I was asleep when I started this thread.

Because I knew it was one of those stupid trick questions, I carefully counted every F in the sentence, not the way I usually read anything. :P
Only got 5 the first time. Does this mean that I need more or less beer for the next attempt?

5. I missed the last "of" for about five recounts. Finally found it wen I dragged my finger over the words revealing the letters one by one.
I believe this is because the F in the word "of" is not pronounced like other F's, so it's easy to not notice it unless you stop reading normally (ie, word by word) and start reading letter by letter.
Personally, I've seen this particular trick question so many times that now when I see it I think "it's probably 6", but then I count anyway as I'm not sure if the sentence has been changed. I should just start memorising the sentence.

I counted Three.
Then I sat there trying to figure out where the other three were for 5 minutes. Scrolled down and saw the "of" posts.
Man I feel dumb.

because all through grade school we were taught to only count the words that had more than 3 letters. "of" does not apply, so the letters don't get counted.
