my LBS called to say that due to production problems Brompton were no longer producing raw lacquer, so what colour did I want my SL2-X. Boo. I went orange. Raw Lacquer now a collector's item.
Well, you have my condolences. But don't take it too hard: an expensive steel bicycle really needs a dependable finish, so if the lacquer manufacturer wasn't good enough, you are probably better off.
Of more interest to me.... So, Gringogus is getting a Brompton, eh? New toy, or necessity? That is, are you expanding the fleet, or replacing something that wore out? What's the whole story?

What a shame! I was looking forward for another Brompton in my life. That one would have been the Raw Lacquer colour. So now I have to settle on another colour or colour combination? Well, I seem to have more time to make that decision-or stick with black and save $$$.
My bike is a complete delete s/s,no options, but i really wished i got raw version. Now i'm really wishing i got it.:(

expanding the fleet. there is a logic that I have that I need this bike. the reality is is through the UK govt cycle-to-work scheme I can get a real good deal, and pay over 10 months...
But I wish it was raw lacquer... never mind......
Congrats on your purchase, bet you cant wait.Almost a Christmas present methinks.:thumb:
