Foo - The server at www.bikeforums.net is taking too long to respond.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I can't believe it is taking them DAYS to figure out the problem. Stuff happens, but if it had ever taken this long to correct at any of the companies I have worked for...the IT staff would be out on its ass.

It's obvious to me. Just a couple of days ago, I started a quest to read the entire " Ask PCAD Anything" thread. I got through about 100 pages. The forum goes down. I know why!

Since I have given up the quest, the forum is up and running again. I do know why!

That was a pretty lengthy problem, alright. I think it was cuzza the BikeSnob.com ads.

Can we get a pool going for when a left column of ads shows up?

Apparently they lost everything and had to retype every post ever made, using barely readable dot-matrix print outs.

And they were only able to begin this monumental task after building a new server, router, and ethernet cables by hand.

It was touch-and-go there for a few days.

A ban-able offense for sure. That thread was never meant to be read in its entirety. It's the black hole of BF.

We've been experiencing serious issues, yes. IT affected multiple sites, though. IB will be making an announcement about it later today. I only know a bit, but it wasn't fun, etc. I do know our tech team is exhausted.....they've been dealing with this for a couple of days straight now.

I've had problems getting to several sites, and on at least one, it was due to malware of some kind on that server. Good luck with it all.

I can't possibly complain about something that is basically free. Thanks for all the hard work Tom, and pass that along to the others too please! :thumb:

See the announcement and I'm sure you will all join me in thanking the guys that work the code on this site for getting us back up. :D

I've closed this thread. I'll leave it up for a while, though.
