wanted to get an estimate on the value of this frameset + parts (came as complete bike minus front wheel). picked this up at a police auction, but don't really intend to keep it. was also hoping T-mar could chime in with a date-check.

If you part it out, you could probably get something like $75-100 for the frame and $50-75 for the parts depending on the market. Is that an SR stem and bar?

nice looking Univega. a little elbow grease and some turtle wax and that will be a smooth riding bike. even has a nicely chromed real fork crown.

Value as is $50. Clean it up, add a decent front wheel, get it ready to ride, and it might bring $225 (depends how well the frame cleans up).

I bought my 84 or 86 Gran Premio for 175. Put roughly 100 into it and sold it for 450 a half a year later. I regret selling it now. It was one of the cleanest vintage rides I has ever came across. Not to mention the SunTour Cyclone parts were awesome. It fit me great, but I needed to make rent at the time so it had to go.....

so here's the deal. i don't really care to keep this frame, even though it would fit me. i prefer more laid-back geometry and eyelets for fenders. however, after doing a complete tear-down today, i realized just how nice a frameset this is-- all tange 1 tubing with fully chromed tange 1 fork (not just the fork crown), and really nice windowed lugs. no dings, no bends, no rust. just tons of scratches and scrapes. now i'm all confused. i hate to get rid of nice frames, so i might just have it powdercoated and build it up to keep for the time being. the suntour comps are in fantastic shape, no signs of wear and not even scraped. took out the BB and the tubes look new inside. the photos look bad because the bike was soaking wet from bringing it home in the rain.

High quality bike. I wouldn't paint it. Good parts group for an '81. Univegas have their fans but typically don't get the esteem that some other (even infererior) bikes do.
Build it ride it and at the right opportunity sell it then. I too belive that dep. on the end result it could command 225 (a good #). I could recommend to any given individual that it would be "worth more". Tange #1, Cyclone.. looks like 700 wheels, if so, I would pay more for it or reccomend that it's worth more.

I was going to say a little higher as is...but not much. Maybe $75 as is.....$175-200 ready to ride out the door.

Univegas aren't a brand name thats overly popular or well known in Tampa. I could get some good coin for it in 'SS' configuration.
