Yeah...I'm assuming I'm not the only anime geek who rides. Who else here is a rolling otaku?

Watched 'Ghost in the shell' last night.
Really like the movie Akira, though it's very old.

I've been an anime geek for as long as I can recall watching TV and hell, I consider myself a child of TV (sad but true). Admittedly, I'm more a fan of sci-fi anime and mecha anime than any of the others. To date, I think my favourite piece of anime is Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket. But lately, I've been watching and re-watching Macross Zero... still awaiting the last installment to be released.

Yep, old school here as well. Grew up on Voltron and Robotech.

I haven't kept up well though. i have rejoiced since Fry's started carrying initial D, and am pissed that they jacked up the price on the robotech dvds....love/hate thing with that store.

If you're a RoboTech/Macross fan then you should really check out Macross Zero. I find Fry's to be tolerable as long as I go in knowing exactly what I want, exactly where to find it and I don't have to talk to a sales associate otherwise I walk out with a headache and a case of massive frustration. Also, returning stuff there is like having a root canal done.

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie is showing on The Action Channel tonight. BTW, what does everyone think about Vandread? Looks like they're going to start showing that soon.

my latest fixation: gundam wing.... yes, i totally "missed the boat", but it's ok, never too late for a series.

Favorite series: Cowboy BeBop

For some reason, I never could fully get into the Gundam Wing/After Colony universe. I much prefer the original Gundam/Universal Century setting. And even in that universe, I actually liked Gundam 0080 and 08th. MS Team best for their gritty approach to war. Also, the mecha design and action seemed more realistic (as "realistic" as mecha combat can get I suppose). 08th. was good because it tries to take you through the Gundam universe from the POV of the basic grunt... not a high-falutent newtype or one of the upper-ranking stars. 0080 really drills to the core about the nature of a civilisation in wartime... there are no clearcut good or bad guys and in the end there's really only the tragic impacts left behind on the survivors. No one really wins. All this is depicted through the eyes of a child and it's really a tale about innoncence lost. For this reason, I think 0080 is actually the most mature-themed of all the Gundam stories.

Evening all,

Dyed-in-the-Lycra Macross fan! I even used to play the DYRL/Macross "Attack" music in my head when I used to 'mssngr' Manhattan, viewing other bikes and traffic as missile swarms & enemy fighters! :D

Wish i could view the current Macross Zero. It will probably be awhile.

I can't help it I got the soundtrack to Initial D stuck in my head when goign full bore on my bike...especially when I hit street turns hard enough on my mtn bike that the buzzing the knobby tread makes is approaching squeals :D

I was a huge Voltron fan. I do believe that it is coming out on DVD this month. We used to watch Gundam wing in college. It was good, but I always missed episodes due to classes. Stupid school getting in the way of my television watching.
