Ok ... I know you guy have heard it a million times. However, I am just getting back into biking after a 3-year hiatus ... and I have only done serious mountain biking in the past. Well, I am getting too old to do face-plants into trees anymore, so I really want to get into road biking.

I want to spend less than $1250.00, and have tried a few bikes and have (most likely) narrowed it down to 2 bikes: the Trek 1500 and the Bianchi Veloce.

Assuming all things equal .... which would you choose and why? Is the Bianchi really worth the ~$500 price premium over the Trek? Both feel really good, and I like the geometry of both ... I can't decide.

Thanks for the help, folks.

Personally I like the Vigorelli better. Same frame better spec

with closeouts starting, you might be able to find a trek 2100 for your budget. i've never tried the bianchi, but the 2100 is a very very smooth bike. cf seat stay, cd seat post, cf fork, al frame and all 105 components except fd which i believe is tiagra. the shifters/brake levers might be tiagra as well...you should check it out if possible :)

Why not both......I own a trek 5200 and a Bianchi Giro. Actually, both have been great bikes to ride. Aluminum Vs. Carbon Fiber so I can't make a true comparison, but I can tell you that the quality of both is outstanding.

Try negotiating on the Trek, it seems that there is more of a price mark-up than the Bianchi. Shoot for the 2100 or 2300 first and then "settle" for the lesser 1500.
