Does anyone have any information on when the bicycle dynamo was developed? The earliest references I have found are 1934 for the tire driven dynamo and 1936 for the hub dynamo, both by Sturmey Archer. The info on these is from the Sturmey Archer Heritage web site. The earliest stand alone bottle dynamos I found are in the book "100 years of Bicycle Component and Accessory Design". These are from 1935 and the brands are JUX and Soubitez and are pictures only. An example of what appears to be a Soubietz predecessor to the bottom bracket dynamo is also pictured. It appears to have mounted to the seat tube.
