Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - what am i doing wrong?

i want to get as much feedback as i can on a build that i have planned. i recently locked down a job, and so now that i have a source of income i'm going to start building up a bike.

leader 725tr 2010 frame + aluminum steerer carbon fork + fsa zs headset
mavic open pro to formula from bicyclewheelwarehouse
miche primato bottom bracket + s75 crankset
EAI cog + DA lockring
EA90 stem. 1 pair bullhorns, 1 pair drops.
easton EA70 carbon seatpost + specialized toupe saddle
shimano PD-R540 road clipless pedals.

so, what is wrong with this? tell me whatever changes you would make to my bike. i want to build up from a frameset, so please don't advise me to just get a kilo TT. i also want to do track racing next season, so this will probably be used for that as well. i don't care about barspins or any of that.. i plan to ride this bike through the city a lot (20 mi+ daily), and possibly use it for long distances (STP). that's all.

please: if you don't like something suggest an alternative. if you don't like the ****ty aluminum used by leader, don't just say "steel is real", suggest a better frameset to buy in the same price range. i do trust your guys judgement and so i want you to make as many suggestions as you can. i know i made this thread already, but i figured this would be better than resurrecting the old one.

Sounds much nicer than my ride, but I'll give input on the saddle. I have a toupe saddle, and I really like it. My advice for you is to go and get fitted for one. Your LBS should have a gel pad you sit on, and your 'sit bones' leave an impression in the gel. They then measure this and give you the appropriate width. This saddle is very light, and has minimal padding, so proper fit is key for comfort. I got mine fitted, and it feels great. IMO, something as important as a saddle warrants this, even though I ended up paying a bit more getting it from a LBS rather than online.

I am not a fan of:
-leader frame - if you're on the west coast a better aluminum track-raceable frame/fork shouldn't be hard to find for around $400-600
-miche bb - a bit of a headache and tend to wear out fast, see if you can find a cheap campy bb that's the right length for the 75's
-Shimano SPD pedals - I'm personally an ATAC fan, but if you want to be racing track I'd look into getting a pair of road shoes and pedals.

astronomical: OK on 1 and 2, but the SPD pedals that i mentioned are SPD-SL..aka LOOK cleats. so, road cleats.

Well you can always take a leader aero SS frame and then remove the decals and no one can tell a difference from a de - logoed super pista.... :roflmao2:

I don't get all the leader hate on bike forums. I've seen and ridden several and they're fine. I know of alot of people who ride them and are faster than you.

man! it's a cool bike and thanks and all, but if you think i'd planned to pay $2,549 on a frameset, why would my original choice be a leader?

anyway i have a lead on a GTB frameset so i will probably end up getting that.

It's basically the same as a Fuji Track Comp/Pro, which IMO looks a lot better than the Leader alu frames. If I were to get a Leader though, it would def be one of the new steel ones (722TR I believe?)

Get a fuji track comp/pro or what ever the hell there called now, or Felt tk2 or tk3 or the tk1 if your really balln :) You don't want leader creak!

I hope you're talking about one of the original GTBs, not the crappy reissue ones.

If you do in fact have a lead on an original GTB, then by all means, go for it. Those are sweet frames.

They don't make gtb's (made in taiwan) anymore nor the kinesis (made in usa)which is ****ing baller!! My friend just traded a tk2 frameset for one soo badass. Your prob refering to the gutterball

yeah, recently our local velodrome sold off a bunch of GTB's for $350 each. yes, GTBs, not gutterballs. so a lot of people have them and one guy's selling one. my friend got one but i didn't. :crash:

by the way, there was the GTB and the Pulse. the Pulse is made with easton kinesis tubing, but there was no bike called the kinesis. the GTB is just the cheaper version.

If you insist on an aero aluminum frame on the street, go for the FTP or Moto Track Team or TK3 framesets as some people mentioned above. If you're open to non-aero and/or steel, then you have unlimited options. I know I wouldn't mind having a GTB!
