Mountain Biking - what is considered light for a XC race tire ?

without going too extreme, 400-500 is pretty light. i am not a hardcore racer but have done quiet a few sport class xc races. i have been using hutchinson pythons i think...if i remember right they are around 450 grams...but then i weighed them on my scale and they were 527 grams

300-400g is reasonable for dry condition xc tires. eg. Kenda Klimax
Best on the scales is not always the best.
I've been happy with IRC Mythos for modest dirt situations. (mid 400g)
