Whats the difference between a 7005 and a 6061 frame. I've been looking at some GT and Dawes bikes. The GT has the 6061 and Dawes the other. Is there any major difference in quality weight?

The higher the number the stronger the alloy. It's a lot more difficult to weld higher number aluminums and after welding they need to be specially heat treated for strength. There is really not much significant difference between the two types. You may loose some weight with the higher numbers but the cost is not worth it. You are a lot more likely to feel the difference between 2 manufacturers then between the frames.
