"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Colligate races towards upgrades

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Has anyone been able to use Collegiate A or B races towards a cat 3 upgrade?
I've heard that it can go either way.
Well you have to be a cat3 to even race A's so that elimantes one of your questions.
As to whether or not you can use B points to upgrade to the 3's I don't know and I am equally interested as I will be in that position this coming spring.

Provided that the usual distance/field requirements are met:
D races count for an upgrade to the 4s
C races count for an upgrade to the 4s
B races count for an upgrade to the 3s
A races count for an upgrade to the 2s
The details can be found in the usa cycling handbook (http://www.usacycling.org/forms/USAC_rulebook-7.pdf).
There were/are a number of guys racing A who got their 3 upgrade from collegiate racing. I'm talking about people who didn't bother with the USAC road season, so there wasn't any other way to get it.
yes. you can use B results to go 4->3
(i even know someone who used C results for that upgrade)

As of last year, collegiate categories are meant to match up with USAC categories, and if you upgrade in one you must upgrade in the other. So if you upgrade to A's based on collegiate results, you get your 3 upgrade as well. You can use collegiate upgrade points all the way to cat 2, but they are useless for your 1 upgrade.
