Road Cycling - Has anyohe tried one of those mesh top saddles?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
My Litespeed which came with the Litespeed saddle is giving my boys some troubles. I still want a light weight saddle - but might need something more forgiving than what I have right now. I noticed a few companies making a saddle with a mess top cover, almost like a hammock type effect. Does anyone use this type saddle, or know of another comfortable race type saddle under 255 in weight.

Are you talking about the SaddleCo saddle? I'm also interested in what people have to say about that! Sure LOOKS interesting....
In reply to your question, everybody's different. You've just got to try lots of different ones. Or, as some of the Nazis on here would say, buy a Brooks!

San Marco Concor light as used by Lance and many other pros is a good bet; very comfortable and very good value. There are two versions, one with steel rails and the other with titanium (at 245g). I've seen the steel rail version for about $25.

I held that seat in my hand at the bikeshop and the price for the quality of what you are getting is bull****, they are either overcharging for the lack of sales or just because the ythink they can, the plastic was all rough and poorly cut and it was heavy.

Are you talkin about the SaddleCo mesh top saddle or the Fizik style one.

Did you mean my post? The prices I quoted were for leather - I wasn't aware you could get plastic. As I said the weight is 245g according to their website, and they are used by Armstrong/Voeckler and a whole host of other pro riders.
I've had the SaddleCo for nearly one year now. Its better than any other I've tried. I guess the best thing I can say about it is my butt has not been in pain or uncomfortable since I've been using it. Longest ride has been 5 -6 hours. Apparently the seat doesn't like heavy weights though >200lbs. Again seating is an individual thing. You have to try some to find what works for you. I also have a Sella Italia Pro Link on my other bike that seems ok. Haven't done a long enough ride on that yet for a true assessment.
