Road Cycling - Has anyone here used CTS?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I was thinking about signing up with a training system and wanted to hear from someone who has actually used Chris Carmichael's training program. I was also looking at the training program on Bicycling's page. Or am I completely off base here and should be looking at a particular book for this information? Thanks for your help.

My riding buddy and I are on it right now. We did a 3 mile TT 3 weeks ago, and with my American Classic 420 tubulars, I did 9:50. We did it again Sunday with my Cane Creek normal clinchers, and I pulled out an 8:28. Billie has also improved greatly (He beat me by 6 seconds, the lousy bum!), but we can't really tell how much, as he was riding an ancient Trek that didn't fit him for crap 3 weeks ago, and was riding an R400 with the 3.0 frame that fits him perfectly on Sunday. Every time we go riding, though, he usually beats me in our little sprints and stuff, so he has to be improving at least as much as I am.

Hi,
When I purchased my CYCLEops trainer this past winter it came with the Train Right Time Trail tape. I enjoyed following that tape so I purchased Climbing and Sprinting. I would recommend Time Trail and Climbing, but I didn't find Sprinting all that exciting :). I also picked up some of the Spinerval collection, and if you want a different workout those are pretty good. After following the tapes a few dozen times, now listen to tunes, turn down the volume on the TV, and hammer along following the direction of the tapes. It makes being on the trainer a little more fun.

Well I haven't used CTS but I did buy Chris' book The Perfect Ride. I have probably improved around 15%-20% buy following the training and diet guides in the book. I'm considering signing up with CTS this fall and work with them through the spring and see how much (or if) I improve.
G'day,
see if you can get a book by Edmund burke entitled 'Serious cycling', he's a seppo, so it should be available over there...much of carmichaels stuff is the same , or very similar to whats conatined in this book. I looked at CTS, but ultimately thought that it was very expensive for what you get. Consider also, looking in your local area for a coach. A lot of clubs will be able to put you in touch with someone who might suit your needs better. There are many good coaches around, CTS has nothing revolutionary that you can't gain elsewhere & cheaper, goodluck,
cheers,
Hitchy
