Hehe...just had to post about it. :)

It's raining outside and I'm bumming about not being able to ride tonite. Thought I'd call the LBS and see if the bike arrived today, and guess what it did! :D

They are still waiting on the flight deck and haven't put it together yet...but I'm set to get fitted tomorrow and take the new baby out on a test drive.

I'm itchin' to get a look at it, I'm even contimplating just driving up to take pics and touch it...been waiting for a new rig for the past year. ;) Of course I don't wanna just get in the way of the LBS employees...I'm sure they wouldn't be too thrilled to have me poking around like a kid in a toy store.

You have to take pic's while it's in it's infant stages (before it's put together), then you can create a picture album to show friends & relatives when they come over.

G'day,

Congrats on the new machine. I've had mine about 3 months. Because I chose a frame, gruppo, wheels, bar, stem etc that didn't actually come 'as a bike', it all had to be built from the components from scratch. The day the frame arrived, (the very last component to turn up), I took the next day off work & went & watched my bike being built.....i sat on a stool, out of the way in the workshop....the mechanic didn't have any qualms about me being there at all, infact, to the contrary, he explained each step, what he was doing, why he was doing, things to avoid etc etc. A facinating day. I certainly learned a lot more about my new bike. If you are interested, I would ask you LBS, the worst they can say is no!,

cheers,

Hitchy

Wildbill, congrats. Quick question, how do you like your Specialized Sirrus Elite bike? My LBS recommended this bike amongs a few others, namely Trek 1000, 7500FX/7500 etc. I am pretty sure I want the drop down handlebars so it rules out some already. Thx. Sunny

Hey Guys...well I decided to hold off and just wait til today...I would of liked to have gotten some pics of it disassembled, but it was pretty cruddy out yesterday and I didn't feel like making the 1/2hr drive up to the LBS. Plus they were pretty busy, so I would of just been in their way.

But I'm heading up there this afternoon...can't wait...and as long as the weather clearers up today, I'm gonna be riding it tonite! :)

Sunny - I found that after riding the Sirrus for a year I really would rather have drop bars. I ended up converting the bike over to a drop bar road bike w/ Shimano 105 STI shifters and everything. I put WAY to much money into the bike VS just buying a new Allez in the first place. In hindsight I should of sold the Sirrus as soon as I started thinking about upgrading and just bought a new bike.

Well I picked it up last nite and took it out for a quick ride. I still need to play with the seat position I think, and possibly the handlebars...but all in all I am very impressed! I swear it shot out of the hole like a rocket compared to my sirrus.

The double is going to take a bit getting used to...it seemed like I was at the top end of the gears in the 53 ring and the 39 was WAY too free spinning on flat land. I swear the bike is a bit lighter than the sirrus is as well.

Also, got an email yesterday that the '94 Allez I won off eBay has shipped...so I should have yet another new toy to play with next week. I can compare the two and the 10yr difference. :)

I haven't taken any pics yet, but will try and get some shots tonite to post.

your noticing the 53 is pretty easy to spint o eh?

I didn't want to sound cocky but I barrelled up a few hills in gear 20 (Which is either 53-12 or 52-12, not sure) without "extreme" effort (mind you my aerobic level isn't that great so I run out of steam after a few good efforts but still) I think I'm just not used to how quick the bike accells compared to my 28LB Kona tank :0
